Samsung ATIV S vs Nokia Lumia 920

So… I picked up the Samsung ATIV S phone at work earlier today using employee price of course. Seems like a pretty good phone. Easily better than HTC’s 8x. Not too sure about it being better than the Nokia 920 though.

This is just a preliminary findings of the phone as I’ve only gotten it for less than a day. Not to mention I haven’t been feeling well to really take it out of the box until an hour or so ago.

The Ativ resembles that of their Galaxy S3 but with windows phone 8 OS as opposed to Android. However, the back of the phone has a more metallic look even though it still feels like plastic when you hold onto it. It sort of makes the phone feel cheaper than it actually is. I don’t know if it is a good thing or a bad thing, but it certainly makes the phone weight lighter than the 920.

Has the same 4.8″ Super AMOLED screen as the Galaxy S3. The good thing about the Ativ s compared to the other Windows Phone 8 devices is the removable battery and microSD. The Nokia has integrated battery and no expandable storage. Though the Nokia has 32GBs of built in memory. The Ativ S gives you a generous 16GB of internal storage with the ability to add more via MicroSD if you so choose to. Unlike Windows Phone 7 where when you plug in the MicroSD you’d have to reformat the phone, the Windows Phone 8 expandable storage capability is hot swappable, meaning you do not need to reformat the phone and you can remove it at anytime. Or so they claim, I haven’t tried that yet will update when or if I do decide to give it a try. LOL

Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Ativ S…. They’re both Windows Phone 8, so software, user experience and interface is exactly the same. Only difference is the Exclusive applications they both might have. Nokia has their own suite of applications while Samsung has their own. Nokia’s Nokia Drive beta is awesome tho since it doesn’t require data to operate. I have 6GBs of data monthly so it doesn’t really affect me. But it’s great for people who roam and need GPS.

The Nokia 920 does have the wireless charging capability that makes it better. and it seems the color on the Nokia 920 isn’t as sharp as the Samsung Ativ. BOth are using Cyan color background yet the Samsung’s seems darker. lol

I will be using the Samsung for a couple of days to get a better feel on how I like the phone and depending on the outcome might be selling one of them. 🙂
